Trull Family History

Researching the Trulls and more of Union County, NC, USA

Welcome! This website focuses on my branches of the Trull, Hargett, Shuman, Smith, and Broom families, all of Union County, North Carolina (or Anson/Mecklenburg Co., before Union was established in 1842). I plan to continue expanding this site to other branches of my family tree in the future.

You will also find a list of my cemetery surveys and some tools that I have found helpful in my research.

This page is a work in progress! I'm working a little each week to get my research added.

I created this website in order to share my research without the need for others to create any accounts or pay fees. Much of this info is sourced from free records found on sites like FamilySearch.org (such as census records and vital records), newspaper articles, my own visits to archives/libraries/cemeteries, my family's personal collection of photos and personal effects, and information passed down from my older relatives.

I strive for accuracy, so please email me if you see something documented incorrectly! Please share your source(s) with me as well, if possible. I make an effort to cite my sources (even for info that was passed down orally) and be clear when I'm sharing anything that might be speculative.

Please feel free to reach out with any additional information, comments, or corrections.
