My name is August. I was born in the 90s in Union Co., NC and raised there by my maternal grandfather's sister (my mother's aunt). I was named after my maternal great-grandfather, Floyd Augustus "Shorty" Trull.

I have been researching my family history since 2013. I started creating my family tree through my aforementioned great-aunt's lived knowledge and the Shuman family bible that she possessed; Annie Mae Shuman was her grandmother and my great-great grandmother.

I am also a descendent of John Erastus Smith and Rosa Adeline Hargett. Rosa is pictured to the far left in the above photo.

This website currently focuses on my maternal side, but I would like to expand research to include my paternal side as well, eventually. My paternal side is from western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee.
